Maluks Attorneys who are based in Sandton is in search of a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Litigation Associate to join our team! As a Senior Litigation Associate, the ideal Candidate will play a critical role in managing complex litigation cases and providing legal support and guidance to our clients. The Candidate will be responsible for handling various aspects of the commercial litigation process, including conducting research, drafting documents, managing case files, preparing for trials, representing clients in court, and negotiating settlements. The ideal candidate will work closely with directors, manage juniors, and assist with training candidate attorneys.
➢ Manage a diverse caseload and handle all phases of litigation from inception to resolution.
➢ Conduct extensive legal research and analysis to provide accurate and timely legal advice to clients.
➢ Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
➢ Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as required.
➢ Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties involved in the litigation process.
➢ Collaborate with partners and other attorneys to develop case strategies and tactics.
➢ Supervise and mentor junior associates and candidate attorneys on litigation matters.
➢ Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents affecting litigation practice areas.
➢ Maintain accurate and organized case files, documents, and correspondence.
➢ Assist with business development initiatives, including client presentations and networking events.
➢ Update clients regularly about their matters.
➢ Ensure compliance with all courts.
➢ Professional client service and matter management.
➢ Generally assisting director of the team with all various aspects.
➢ LLB Degree and strong academic credentials
➢ Admission as an Attorney in South Africa
➢ Minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation attorney, with a focus on complex commercial litigation, extensive knowledge of Company law and , law of contract
➢ Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, and litigation strategies
➢ Strong background in handling legal disputes and representing clients in court proceedings.
➢ Excellent drafting skills (notices, pleadings, and all other court related documents)
➢ Must be able to run with own matters under minimal supervision.
➢ Must have the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and take responsibility for the relationship.
➢ Experience in managing juniors in the team.
➢ Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
➢ Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
➢ Experience managing multiple cases and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
➢ Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
➢ Confidence and proficiency in representing clients in court and other legal proceedings.
➢ Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
➢ Leadership abilities and the capacity to supervise and mentor juniors.
➢ Business acumen and the ability to contribute to business development efforts.
➢ Proficiency in using legal research databases.
➢ Experience in arbitration and mediation of commercial disputes.
